HPP (Hei Awhiawhi Tamariki ki te Panui Pukapuka)

This is an oral language programme for 5 & 6 year olds, based around picture books.

The tutors are trained volunteers from the community. They work in a 1 to 1 situation for 3 half hour sessions a week. The children have more time to answer than in a busy classroom.

This programme:

• Helps develop good oral language
• Assist the students in making links between listening, talking & reading
• Develops student’s confidence, particularly in conversation.
