The top Northland Primary Schools recently competed in the Westpac Rippa Rugby Primary School Finals.

Teams from as South as Wellsford to Kaitaia in the North competed in the annual finals run by the Northland Rugby Union with the support of Westpac.

Two qualifying tournaments were previously held in each Sub Union throughout the year with the top two teams from each getting the opportunity to represent their area in the finals.

After a number of close games throughout Pool Play, the knockout phase began with Kawakawa, Matauri Bay, Maungaturoto and Dargaville all winning in the Year 3 & 4 grade.

This set up some great clashes for the Semi Final with Dargaville winning over Kawakawa 7 - 2 and Matauri Bay beating Maungaturoto 3 - 2

Dargaville Primary and Matauri Bay then competed in the Finals as a curtain raiser for the Northland Hawkes Bay game on Wednesday 24th August.

Dargaville Primary won their game 9 - 1
