After our busy term one with so much Education Outside The Classroom (EOTC), it is time to turn to indoor pursuits.
Our formal school choir is for children in years 4 to 6 who love to sing and have the confidence and determination to work at singing in harmony. With 55 eager songsters coming along for the first session the music room was bursting at the seams. The children will meet once a week from 1.30 until 2.15pm.
At each session the children work through vocal exercises, singing in rounds, singing in unison and in harmony. Some pieces are accompanied and some are a capella, so overall the children are learning skills beyond those taught in class and syndicate singing time.
Unfortunately there is no Suzanne Prentice concert in our area this year so once we have mastered a few pieces we will be searching for other opportunities to show off our musical skills.
After passing the choir to Miss Devereaux last year it is my pleasure to take responsibility for it again in 2011.
